"Blue Rose" expresses the beauty of the gracefully growing vines and vibrant roses through the mysterious colors created by the art of flame. Since its creation in 1928, this design has become synonymous with Okura Pottery. At a time when it was believed impossible to grow blue roses naturally, Okura Pottery's "Blue Rose" embodied this miracle. Using Okura Pottery's unique "Oka Dye" technique, the delicate deep blue color blends seamlessly into the white porcelain, dazzling the eye with its beautiful, blooming color. The "Oka Dyeing" technique involves painting a white porcelain surface with cobalt pigments after firing it first, then firing it again in a kiln at the world's highest temperature of approximately 1,460°C. This allows the pigment to sink into the glaze, creating a unique, deep, deep blue color. This technique is particularly striking when it comes to the world-renowned white porcelain of Okura Pottery. Because the pigment blends into the glaze, the surface is lustrous and smooth, ensuring long-lasting use.
"Blue Rose (8011)" is available in a dinner pattern and a wide variety of other items. It also makes a great gift.
