Celebrating Go Nagai's 50th Anniversary
This landmark giant robot manga, now known worldwide, is now available for the first time in a B5-sized, full-color, magazine-original edition!
The original piloted giant robot is Mazinger Z!
This year marks the 45th anniversary of this legendary giant's birth. Since its manga and anime debut in 1972, it has continued to enjoy popularity as a beloved super robot, becoming an enduring character not only in Japan but also in China, Europe, and North America.
Theatrical release of "Mazinger Z the Movie (tentative title)" is also scheduled for January 13th next year!
At the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in France in June, the world's first trailer was released. Guillermo del Toro, director of "Pacific Rim," a long-avowed Go Nagai fan, paid a courtesy visit to Nagai, marking his first visit to the festival. News footage showed him delightedly receiving an illustration and autograph of Mazinger Z.
Furthermore, this year marks the 50th anniversary of original author Go Nagai's career as an artist.
As the eyes of the world are focused on "Mazinger Z," "Mazinger Z 1972-74 [Complete First Edition]" begins publication.
After receiving a mad legacy from his genius scientist grandfather, Juzo Kabuto, the giant robot "Mazinger Z," Koji Kabuto decides to use its power to fight Dr. Hell, who is plotting world domination! ---While "Mazinger Z" is synonymous with super robots, its release had a strange fate. Originally serialized in Shueisha's "Weekly Shonen Jump," it later moved to Kodansha's "TV Magazine."
This collector's edition includes both the "Jump" and "TV Magazine" versions as they originally appeared. This marks the first time in 45 years since its publication that a truly original version has been published, faithfully recreating the magazine size and even the color pages.
●Product specifications: 4 volumes in total/B5 size/softcover/approximately 350 pages each/all color pages reproduced/all frontispieces included/bibliographic information, gallery, interview with Nagai Go (volume to be included) and more will be included at the end of each volume.
