The Imperial Japanese Navy initially planned four Amagi-class battlecruisers under the 8-8 Fleet concept, consisting of eight battleships and eight battlecruisers.
The second ship, Akagi, was launched at the Kure Naval Arsenal on December 16, 1920 (Taisho 9), but was converted into an aircraft carrier in 1922 (Taisho 11) following the signing of the Washington Treaty.
Had it been completed as a battlecruiser, it would have been equipped with ten 41cm guns, a displacement of 41,000 tons, and a speed of over 30 knots.
The box art was created by Yoshiyuki Takani.
